With April Showers, Comes May Bugs?

During the rainy spring season, we keep our spirits high in anticipation of sunny days and fully bloomed gardens. In the mean time, the rain also makes for an inviting environment for many pests!

The rain causes a lot of insects to move about, as they thrive in these wet and damp conditions. Pests that love the rain include cockroaches, termites, silverfish and centipedes – just to name a few! You’ll see these creepy-crawlies infest your basements and bathrooms first, before conquering the rest of your home.

Since these pests thrive in the moisture filled environments, reducing the moisture levels in your home is a paramount part of integrated pest management techniques. To reduce these levels (and make sure these pests are not welcome) keep air in continuous circulation. Try to keep doorways open, floors dry and use dehumidifiers where possible.
