1. Be Careful While Traveling

Many people bring bed bugs home when they travel. They inadvertently pick these pests up at a hotel or motel and bring them home in their luggage. The best way to avoid an infestation is to inspect the bed and furniture in your room and keep your suitcase zipped up. When you get home, place your clothes in the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes to kill off any hitchhikers! To be extra safe, carry around our travel size bed bug killer aerosol.

2. Heat Wash Your Bedding

Bed bugs are very vulnerable to extreme heat. Washing and drying your sheets can help eliminate small infestations. If you wash your sheets in hot water cycle and dry in high heat regularly, you’re less likely to experience an infestation on your property but it is critical to also treat other areas of the bedroom, such as baseboards, headboards, and box springs.

3. Be Careful When Buying Used Furniture

Used furniture can be the ‘Trojan horse’ for bed bugs. If the previous owner had an infestation, it’s likely your home will have the same problem too. The best way to handle this situation is to avoid buying used furniture.

4. Cover Your Mattress and Box Spring
