Squirrel Infestations

Do you hear strange sounds coming from your house attic? A sound of persistent chewing and scratching? One of the most popular causes could be squirrels.

In Canada, there are about 22 species of squirrels. They can be found in different provinces and territories. Six of these 22 species are categorized as tree species, while the remaining sixteen are ground-dwelling squirrels. Most squirrels reproduce once annually and their mating season occurs in spring. During the winter season, squirrels seek shelter to keep themselves warm, and they are usually found nesting in house attics.

When you hear scratching, running and scraping against wood and drywall of your home especially during daytime and in the early evening, most likely your house is a dwelling place for squirrels. Other signs that you have a squirrel infestation is the presence of droppings, chew marks, damage inside your house specifically your attic, and materials gathered for nests. You will also notice damage in your garden, holes around your lawn, and ring barking of trees around your house.
