From park picnics to invading our homes, we have all had to deal with ants! Ants can be particularly annoying to get ride of, especially once they have set up their homes. Specifically, urban ants have their own risks and challenges. The more you understand about these challenges and preventions the easier it will be to protect your home!

The Sweet Life

Just like us, ants have a sweet tooth too! Junk food, sugary and high carb foods are irresistible to them. Be sure to clean up after late night snacking, sweep floors consistently etc. There are certain ants who are “picky eaters”, such as Pharaoh Ants. They too love junk food, and also love to live indoors. These ants require special baits to fully resolve their infestation.

They Lift

These ants are so strong, they can lift up to 50 times their body weight! Even the largest crumbs are appetizing to them. However, not all ants feed on food – some feed on liquids too!

The Night Life

Some ants prefer to be more active at night. For example, carpenter ants who are also home invaders, are nocturnal! You may hear them working away in the late hours. Be careful of these pests, as they can bite! They also cause damage to wooden structures in your home.
