Julius (Jules) Szarko of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Dallas, passed away after a long illness on December 10, 2022, at St. Michael’s Palliative Care unit, thirteen hours short of his 93rd birthday.

Jules was born on December 11, 1929, at the family farm in Carmangay to Julius and Annie Szarko. He attended school in both Barons and Carmangay. At the age of 15, he went to Pine Lake Alberta to work in the bush.  Two years later, he returned to Lethbridge where he lived the rest of his life except for short periods of time. During his life he enjoyed camping, rebuilding antique cars and his beloved Edmonton Oilers hockey team. 

Jules was a very meticulous professional truck driver who could back his rig into anything, anywhere. In 1966, due to his wife’s illness he changed professions and became a salesman at which he excelled at. 

Jules was a hardworking, proud and devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He had a passion for new cars, trucks and camping vehicles. He was a GM vehicle fanatic.  If his kids or grandkids showed up at the house in anything other than a GM he wouldn’t come outside to look at it. 

Besides his loving wife Dallas, Jules is survived his 5 children, Candy (Ric), Jewel (Dan), James, Loreen (Lorne) and Cori. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his parents, Julius and Annie and his sister Irene. 

Jules will be sorely missed by his family and two loving cats (Kitty Kitty and Tiger). 

A Celebration of Jules’s Life will be held at 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
