Beverly Ann Old, a remarkable woman who lived life on her terms, passed away peacefully at the age of 66 after bravely facing a terminal cancer diagnosis and accessing Medical Assistance in Death.

Born on April 15, 1957, in Davidson, SK, to Merritt and Elsie Old, Bev was a loving sister, a devoted mother, and a true adventurer at heart. Beverly spent her early years on a farm near Davidson, where she developed a deep love for horses and could be found playing with farm kittens and her sister, Debra Old. She graduated from high school in Kelowna, where she competed in the beauty competition known as Lady of the Lake.

After graduation, Bev ventured into the world of travel, initially working at a travel agency after working at a lawyer’s office. Her first Familiarization Trip to Disney Land ignited a passion for exploration, and a realization she could have work pay for her trips. She moved to Saskatoon to work at Royal Travel, where she met her soon-to-be business partner, Leslie Fulkerurth. Together, they founded Business and Leisure Travel in Lloydminster in 1987, marking the start of a successful business and lifelong friendship.

While building her career, Bev continued her adventures, exploring the world and making memories. At 35, she embraced the role of a mother, welcoming her only daughter, Brandy Old, into the world. Mother and daughter became inseparable globetrotters, sharing countless adventures, from cruising to visiting family in Mexico. Their travels were filled with laughter, local beers, sandy beaches, and daring activities like zip-lining.

Outside of work, Bev enjoyed gardening, golfing, and cherished moments with friends. In winter, she found solace under a Mexican blanket, engrossed in a good book with one of her cats by her side. After her terminal diagnosis, Bev retired from her travel agency, moved to Lethbridge to be closer to Brandy, and continued to inspire everyone around her.

In her final year, Bev emphasized the importance of cherishing every moment, reminding us all to savour life. She found a supportive community through the Go Getters group in Lethbridge, connecting with fellow cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

A true trailblazer, Bev lived life authentically, leaving an impact wherever she went. Known for her smart remarks and infectious laughter, she empowered others to embrace their true selves.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Beverly's life at Rolling Greens Golf Course, Box 11453, Range Rd 13, Lloydminster, AB, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 12:30 to 2:30 PM. Feel free to bring photos and memories, especially those accompanied by funny stories.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Bridge C14 or a charity of your choice are appreciated.

May Beverly's spirit of adventure, resilience, and laughter live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
