Tich Chau Luu passed away at his care home in Lethbridge, Alberta on March 27, 2023, surrounded by family.

Tich was born on February 2, 1922, in Chaozhou in the Canton province of China. His father passed away when Tich was just 4 years old, prompting his mother to leave him in the care of his uncle, so she could become a nanny in Hong Kong and save the money she needed to make a way for the both of them. Together, they moved to Saigon, Vietnam when he was a teenager.

There, Tich began working tirelessly and eventually followed his entrepreneurial spirit to open his own family restaurant. He met and married Cuc Trang Luu, the love of his life. They raised 4 sons and 3 daughters, building a happy life, while working together to grow their successful business.

In 1985, after the fallout from the Vietnam War, he emigrated with his family to Lethbridge, Alberta. Again, forced to re-build in unfamiliar territory, Tich and Cuc persevered and provided love, support and care, not only to their children, but also their grandchildren. While their kids were now the ones to venture out to make their way, Tich and Cuc provided by helping raise all of their grandchildren while ensuring that there was always a delicious meal on the table by dinner time. Tich was particularly dotting and his grandchildren will always remember the love and attention he poured into them.

Through the years, Tich has been able to watch his grandchildren graduate university, meet their own partners, and become proud working Canadians. Tich's family is so grateful for the years they had with him. Their hearts will be forever imprinted with his commitment to family, his quick wit and sense of humour, and the bi-annual dinners that brought them all home together. They wish him peace now, as he returns to his dear Cuc.

Tich is survived by his son Minh Quang Luu (Thi), daughter Ve Linh Ngo (Quang), daughter Ve Quan Hong (Tich Leng), son Ve Hoa Luu (Iris), sons Te Hoa Luu and Tieu Minh Luu, and daughter Minh Chau Pham (Tuan); as well as his grandchildren Kelly (Ian), Joanne (Zeke), Kevin (Joanne), Jason (Emily), Kathy, Justin, Dagan (Amy), Danny, Stephen, Kristy, Duong Truck Vy and Duong Gia Han.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at 6:00 PM, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Funeral Service will be held to celebrate his life at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Wayne Kwan officiating.
