Mr. Kenneth Ernest Hoglund of Fort Macleod, AB passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 24, 2023, at the age of 91 years. Ken was predeceased by his loving wife Beverly on April 29, 2022.

Ken leaves behind six daughters Marilyn (Ritchie) Dunn, Sandra Hoglund, Joanne (Jeff) Romanuik, Gail Hoglund, Noreen Hoglund, Cindy (Mitch) Brown; four grandchildren who he adored and loved immensely… Wesley Dunn, Lindsay (Steve) Adams, Mark (Erin) Romanuik, Melissa (Russ) Bedell as well as six great grandchildren Jordan, Elyse, Kaley, Ty, Jase and Sadie. He is survived by his brothers Marvin (Gaynor), Jack (Judy), Ben (Darlene) Hoglund and sisters-in-law Vellrie Hoglund, Eileen (Keith) Schwindt and Joyce Reid. Brother-in-law Wayne (Karon) Hanson. As well as numerous nieces and nephews who he loved immeasurably.

He was predeceased by his parents Alice and Ernest Hoglund; brothers Neil and Garry Hoglund; sister Kathleen Fox; brothers-in-law Merv Fox, Gerry Reid, Don Hanson and nephew Dale Fox.

Ken was born in Granum, Alberta on September 14, 1931, to Alice and Ernest Hoglund. He was raised in a large family west of Granum. He attended school in Granum but left at a young age to help on the farm. He had a love of all things mechanical and worked many years as a truck driver for E.M. Brooks Transport. In 1964 Ken started working for Alberta Gas Trunk Line where he remained until his retirement in 1992. During those years he also worked alongside his brothers in the trucking industry starting Hoglund Brothers Trucking. Ken and Bev started their married life in Fort Macleod where they had four daughters. They then moved to the DeMaere homestead for a short time before moving to Woodhouse where they had two more daughters. In 1964 they moved to the Crowsnest Pass for two years then returned to Fort Macleod to their forever home. Ken loved camping, dirt biking and snowmobiling in the Dutch Creek area, something he continued to enjoy well into his 80’s. He loved being with family and spent many a summer holiday with them, always including at least one of his treasured grandchildren, to Sandpoint, Lac des Iles, Saskatchewan and Vancouver Island. Ken will be dearly remembered and missed by many!!

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, January 30, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, Lethbridge, Alberta.

Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
