Accurate measurements are critical to ensuring your window treatments fit perfectly. Follow the FAQs below by Blindz Now to measure your windows correctly and achieve the ideal results.
To measure for inside mount window treatments, follow these steps:
Width: Measure the exact window width in three places (top, middle, bottom) and use the narrowest dimension.
Height: Measure the exact window height in two places and use the shortest dimension.
Window depth: Measure from the back of the window or obstruction to the outer edge of the window.
For a complete flush inside mount, the window depth requirements are:
3” for 2” aluminum blinds.
2” wood blinds.
3/4” for vertical blinds.
1/2” for 1” and 1/2” mini blinds.
3/8” pleated shades and honeycomb shades.
1/4” for 1” wood blinds.
3/4” honeycomb shades.
To measure for outside mount window treatments:
Width: Calculate the exact window frame width and add the recommended overlaps.
Height: Measure the exact height from the upper part of the window frame to the sill (height 1) or the lower part of the window frame (height B) and add the recommended overlaps.
The recommended overlaps are:
For horizontal, honeycomb, and pleated shades, add 1 1/2” to all sides (3” overall to width and height).
For vertical blinds: Add 4” to each side and 2” to the top and bottom. If the blind reaches the floor or sill, only add 2” to the top
