Field Trips

Field trips provide a wide variety of learning opportunities for children and expand the children’s experiences and their understanding of the world around them. We will regularly take children for neighbourhood walks or through local trails, visit local parks, which allow them valuable outdoor time.

For major field trips, parents will be notified ahead of time so that it gives parents time to plan to attend and volunteer if they chose to join.

Drop-Off & Pick-up

The safety of the children is our top priority; therefore, we expect parents/guardians to follow our procedures. Parents/Guardians must sign children in and ensure that a staff member is aware that you are dropping off your child. Parents/Guardians must sign children out upon pick up and ensure that a staff member is aware that you are taking your child home.

AUTHORIZED PICK-UP LIST:

You are required to notify the centre staff if someone other than those listed on the authorized pickup list will be picking up your child. If this person is unknown, they will be required to show photo identification.

CUSTODY:

If a custody agreement or court order is in place for your child, a copy must be on file. Staff will act in accordance with this legal document.

LATE PICK-UP:

Please ensure that your children are picked up on 􀆟me, respecting our staff’s work schedule and personal commitments. Failure to pick-up after 30min of closing, and staff are still unable to contact parents/guardians or emergency contacts, staff will have to call Kwumut Lelum Child and Family Services.

Medication

Medication is administered upon completion of the Permission to Administer Medications form.

Prescription medication must be in the original container stating the child’s name, dosage, and time to be given. Non-prescription medications require a consent form signed by a doctor.

Nutrition

The Centre will supply a morning and afternoon snack for children. Lunches will need to be packed by the caregiver. To ensure your child receives a well-balanced diet, we follow Canada’s Food Guide. We encourage families to pack healthy foods and drinks.

Allergies

On occasion, children who attend our centre manage life-threatening allergies. If your child is anaphylactic, you will be asked to complete an Anaphylaxis Form to describe your child’s allergies, and an Anaphylaxis Action Plan to describe procedures to be followed in the event of an incident.

If a child has allergies, all parents will be asked to refrain from sending that particular food. Please inform staff of any food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Emergencies

In case of an emergency or natural disaster, we will attempt to contact families as soon as possible. If a child needs medical attention, we will attempt to notify parents/guardians prior to taking the child to the

nearest hospital/clinic.

Outdoor Play

We spend time outdoors every day. Please ensure your child has the appropriate clothing for the relevant season. (i.e. rain gear, winter coat, sun hat, sunscreen, etc.)
