Paris Stove Works and The Chimney Sweepers started doing business in 1978. There was a huge need then and still to this day for a qualified company in greater southwestern Ontario to service the wood-burning needs of the community.

The company was founded on the foundation of providing quality service at a reasonable cost in a timely manner. Due to the enormous demand for these services delivering in a timely manner has been a challenge.

The business has been located in Paris Ontario since its inception however has called several addresses home as it moved to support the demands of the market. For many years it was located in a historical building on the west side of Paris at 26 Spruce St. In the fall of 2022, it was moved to 100 Dundas E. in Paris which provides easier access, larger showroom and warehouse plus higher visibility.

Clarence Read Senior was the owner-operator from 1978 to the fall of 2022. He was instrumental in the development, standardization, and code-compliant practices to ensure the community had not only their chimneys swept but units installed that met the code for the wood-burning industry.

Glen Dodsworth joined the business in the summer of 2019 bringing his construction ability and a business background. Since 1995 Glen has owned several successful businesses which were developed and sold. In the fall of 2022, Glen purchased the business from Clarence. This is the third and final chapter in his business career and is excited to take this successful business and make it even more successful. Glen prides himself on putting the client first and providing a high-quality product and service at a reasonable price. Much like that of Clarence Read and the founding principles back in 1978.

Clarence Read consultants from time to time for the new owner when required and is called upon for his long history of knowledge gained over 45 years in the industry.
