POWER VENT WATER HEATERS

Are installed mostly in homes built after 1995, homes with no chimney or homes that have converted from another water heating source making them one of the more commonly used water heaters in Ontario.

Blower motor is attached to the tank and pushes exhaust gas outside the home via the side wall.

Usually provide long venting lengths.

Can be fueled by either natural gas or propane gas.

NATURAL & DIRECT VENT WATER HEATERS

Are installed mostly in homes built before the year 2000 (and usually have a built in chimney) making them one of the more commonly used water heaters in Ontario.

Keep a reservoir of hot water available at all times so that when you turn on the tap, it’s ready to use.

Require an exit drain near the base of tank (usually in basement).

Are good for high volume hot water applications.

Can be fueled by either natural gas or propane gas.

DOES YOUR HOME REQUIRE A GAS LINE TO OPERATE HEAT PUMPS?Gas lines are not required to operate heat pumps, either ductless or air-source, as they are an electric heating and cooling system.

IS EXISTING DUCTWORK REQUIRED TO INSTALL A HEAT PUMP?No, there are Mini-split systems (also known as Ductless units) that can be installed in homes that do not have any ductwork. Ductless heat pumps operate more efficiently than baseboard heating and offer both heating and cooling varieties.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD A HEAT PUMP BE SERVICED?Heat Pumps should be serviced annually. During an inspection, the technician will have a look at the units to make sure the motors, all connections to ensure that everything is operating safely. Don't forget to show them where you have your Carbon Monoxide detector - your safety is our priority.
