At Lone Butte-Horse Lake Community Association in Lone Butte, we are committed to nurturing a thriving and connected community. We believe that volunteering and joining our association are powerful ways to get involved, make a difference, and meet new people.
Our volunteer opportunities range from event planning and community outreach to holiday events, providing a wide range of options for individuals of all interests and skill sets. Additionally, our membership program offers exclusive benefits and access to community resources, including newsletters, social events, and more.

About Our Membership
Membership is a great way to get involved in your community and show your support. Here is some important information about our membership:

Annual membership fee: $5.00

Contact the Vice President, Mary Carter, at 250-395-1994 to become a member.

Membership is required to vote at the Annual General Meeting (must be purchased 3 months prior to the 2nd Tuesday of the December Annual General Meeting).
Become a Volunteer
Volunteer work is not only gratifying but also essential for the growth and success of our community. We need your help, and people of all ages are welcome to come and participate in our activities and work-bees.
We have various volunteer positions available, and we believe everyone can contribute their skills and talents to make a difference. Here are some of our open positions that you may enjoy and/or have the skill set to apply:

Advertising - putting up flyers for various events around town

Someone to change the road sign for upcoming events
Volunteers Required at the Annual Events
We hold several annual events throughout the year and need volunteers to make them successful. Here are some of our annual events:
Cabin Fever Seniors Luncheon in February

Sourcing entertainment

Food preparation: soup and sandwich

Set up table and chairs
-
Kitchen clean up crew
Easter Sunday:

Setting up the tables/chairs
-
Someone to be the Easter Bunny
-
Face painting
-
Easter Egg Decorating (hard boil the eggs & supervise this activity)

Supervising the coloring contest/judging same
-
Setting up the eggs for the hunt outside eggs for the hunt, filling the plastic eggs with candy (contact the OUT group for details)

Shopper - purchasing all of the needed supplies
Lone Butte Rocks in July:

Set up/clean up crew for tents & chairs outside

Someone to put up road signs & take them down after
-
Traffic control
-
Committee to find & book entertainment

Organize & supervise the kid’s zone

Organize & supervise the craft market

Organize food vendors
-
Arrange for spot prizes from local businesses
Halloween October 31:

Shopper for the food

Shopper for the candy

Put the candy in give away bags (contact the OUT group for details)

Cook the hot dogs/drinks

Concession assistance handing out hotdogs/drinks

Obtain firewood and put out the fire barrels
-
Traffic control

Be Santa & Mrs. Claus - We do have a dedicated volunteer who loves to do this :)

4 people to cook turkeys/1 person to cook the ham
