There are many factors that contribute to how long your dentures will last or how often you will need to have them replaced. This includes type of material and maintenance habits. On average, dentures need to be replaced every 5 to 7 years. This is because your mouth naturally changes shape over time, which requires a new set to be made and avoid discomfort.
You can clean your denture by brushing it with a soft-bristled tooth brush and a denture cleaner. Once they are thoroughly cleaned, soak them into a denture cleaning solution overnight to keep them in optimal condition.
Typically 4-5 appointments depending upon the protocol. Primary impressions, secondary impressions, try-in, insertion. At our discretion, we may do an esthetic try-in or make some additional measurements such as pin tracings or facebow registrations when necessary to reestablish the bite. Please note that post insertion you may need some appointments for adjustments. All adjustment appointments are made to your satisfaction however due to the variable nature of soft tissue; you may even need a follow-up reline. This is typical of the upper denture. We offer three months of adjustment appointments at no extra charge.
We can directly bill insurance; however we need a predetermination first. Some insurance companies can do that immediately while others require written preauthorization and take months. Those with urgent denture needs can pay a deposit until the insurance clears usually 50 %. Some insurance companies will send the preauthorization to the patient. We may never receive the preauthorization's. Add to this most insurance companies do not sequester the insurance fees.
Well standard analog dentures are tried-in using loose ill-fitting replicas of wax… You cannot try it before you buy it. Digitally designed dentures are done using a valid bite registration and two models and designed on the computer. The base and teeth are then printed using a high-quality resin and printer. The advantage of this is optimal fit, excellent occlusion and changeable try-in. It also permits a trial denture to take home and try so that we can ensure functioning in a home environment before we make the final denture. Designs are kept in case you lose them, and exact copies can be made.
Most people want standard insurance grade dentures because they depend on the insurance to cover a good portion of the denture fees. No insurance will cover complex equilibrated dentures. No insurance will cover implant dentures. So, the standard is acrylic full dentures and acrylic partial dentures with wrought clasps. Everyone has the same expectation from standard dentures as upper end equilibrated dentures.
We use Ivoclar, Vita, and Hareus-Kultxzer teeth that are considered higher-end denture teeth. They are very lifelike in appearance because they are designed in Europe by companies known for high quality esthetic reproductions.
We stopped charging extra when the insurance companies renegotiated their fee schedules. Everyone has the same expectations and deserves the very best we can provide. If you are not happy then we are not happy. So no we do not charge extra FOR THE TEETH WE USE.
As we age water retention can affect the thickness of the gum tissue. We aspire to provide the best materials and procedures in the fabrication of a well-fitting denture but sometimes if you wear ill-fitting dentures then the irritated tissues shrink a little bit and can cause lack of suction. If you ping pong between the new set and the old set neither will ever fit correctly. Digital dentures let you have a test set fully functioning to make sure that when we fabricate the dentures all the bugs are worked out first before we give you the final set. We provide, if necessary, a follow-up reline at no extra charge. Sometimes they are just needed. If you leave it on the bookcase overnight the denture will dry out and distort.
