What could our interiors look like this year? What are the elements that make a decor trendy? How can I make sure I don't make an outdated choice? Colours, styles, materials, textures, .... I'll take you on a little tour of the 2022 trends (even if some of them have been around for a while...)

Colour Palette

In the spirit of creating a warm, welcoming cocoon, conducive to relaxation or work, colours inspired by nature, such as those found in classic oil paintings, are a favourite choice. Green makes its mark in a desaturated, greyed-out version - no room can resist it! Paint manufacturers have understood this, with Benjamin Moore, Behr, Sico and Sherwin-Williams calling it the colour of the year.

Beige is making a strong comeback, supplanting the pale grey that has been so popular in recent years. On walls, furniture and carpets, beige can be used in an enveloping monochrome. It also goes wonderfully well with stronger earthy or copper tones.

We also see the reappearance of walls painted in a deep colour (aubergine, dark green, navy blue). It's more daring but it highlights the shapes of the cornices and mouldings so well and, surprisingly, it leaves an impression of a larger space.

Styles

It seems that the modern farmhouse trend is running out of steam and giving way to more... traditional style interiors!

A classic and contemporary living room

But be careful, we are not talking about recreating your grandmother's living room!

It is more about playing with classic codes (symmetry, carved wooden family furniture, custom-made textiles, decorative mouldings on the wall, etc.) by bringing a very personal modernity to them, by integrating a mid-century piece of furniture, for example, or by using bold colours and prints. A grand century fresco wallpaper allows you to create a traditional decor with a modern feel... for a guaranteed effect!

Materials

Natural materials such as wood and stone are more popular than ever. They embody durability and timelessness, which is good in these uncertain times...

Marble brings its luxurious character to our decors, as a discreet touch or as a touch of brilliance. Travertine is making a remarkable comeback, as a coffee table, a lamp base …

Textures

This year the materials are textured and sensorial. Combined with polished stone, they create interesting contrasts. The walls are whitewashed or plastered, giving them a depth and imperfection reminiscent of old houses.

Both wood and glass are available in a fluted version. All we want to do is let our fingers run over it!

3D fabrics such as the bouclé for loveseats and armchairs always generate enthusiasm, and understandably so: it's a good way to bring some depth to a decor, without breaking up a neutral monochromatic palette for instance.

I hope you now feel more equipped and ready to make deco choices! However, no need to panic! Everything I've shown you are just trends. It's up to you to make them your own (or not!!), as long as you create a consistent interior that reflects your personality.
